About the project
Open data is an important tool for transparency, accountability and citizen participation. Although the Assembly has an open data portal, some of the data is published in technical formats that are difficult for the general public to use. This limits its potential for information, analysis and public oversight.
The project “Assembly Open Data in Practice: Encouraging Citizen Participation” aims to bring the Assembly's open data closer to citizens, the media, civil society organisations, students and young people. The project combines the development of a user-oriented dashboard, practical training in using open data, a digital campaign and advocacy for the sustainability of the solution.
Through the project, selected data related to parliamentary questions, the “My MP” platform and the citizen contact offices will be visualised and systematised. At the same time, the project will strengthen users' capacities to access, interpret and use open data to monitor the work of the Assembly and encourage greater public accountability.
Assembly Open Data in Practice: Encouraging Citizen Participation, is supported through the Digital Spark granting scheme, as part of the Regional Support Mechanism EECA project, implemented by Metamorphosis Foundation and TechSoup, in partnership with CIVICUS and under the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) that covers the Global South.
